Kathryn Kaye is a composer and pianist whose music transcends genres and categories.  Classically trained as a lyric soprano, pianist, and organist in the United States and Germany, her evocative and haunting melodies are both simple and profound.  Her inspiration comes from classical music, jazz, New Age, and the hymns and folk songs of the Appalachian Mountains of southeast Kentucky, where she grew up.

All of Kathryn's albums have remained on the Zone Music Reporter (ZMR) chart for months, and all reached number 1 or 2 within the first month of their release. All have been nominated for the ZMR Piano, Solo Piano, or Piano with Instrumentation Album of the Year, and she was nominated three times for ZMR Album of the Year.

Kathryn's eighth and most recent album, Solace of Mountains and Clouds, which was released in June 2019, reached number 2 on the ZMR Top 100 chart, and remained on the chart for 7 months. On may 14, 2020, Solace won the ZMR Best Piano Album with Instrumentation award for 2019. On One World Music Radio, the album placed second for Best Piano with Instrumentation for 2019.

Her seventh CD, Songs of Changing Light, was her first solo piano album. Nominated for ZMR Solo Piano Album of the Year, the album contains unaccompanied versions of songs from Kathryn's previous albums. About this album, Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com) wrote:  "Kathryn Kaye has the most incredible velvet touch on the piano keys I have ever heard.  Songs of Changing Light is her seventh album in as many years and is a compilation of pieces from her previous six albums, all presented this time as piano solos.  What an amazing treat this music is--from one heart to another with grace, beauty and that amazing touch. This is my favorite of Kaye's albums so far!"

Kathryn's sixth album, Reflected in a Flowing Stream, was nominated for the Zone Music Reporter (ZMR) 2017 Best Piano Album with Instrumentation award.  The ZMR Awards concert that year was held Saturday May 12, 2018, at Roussel Hall on the campus of Loyola University, where Kathryn was also one of the invited performers. She played a beautiful set of four of her songs, accompanied on two by Jill Haley on English horn, and on another song by percussionist Jeff Haynes. On Thursday May 10 she was one of the featured artists at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, in the former United States Mint building. Other musicians at the Museum concert included Will Ackerman, Lawrence Blatt, Tom Eaton, Jeff Haynes, Fiona Joy, Jeff Oster, and Erik Scott. Reflected in a Flowing Stream was selected the Piano with Instrumentation Album of the year for 2017 on One World Music Radio (OWM).

Kathryn's fifth album, There Was a Time, won the award for Best Piano with Instrumentation in 2016 at the ZMR 13th annual Music Award Concert, held at Loyola University's Roussel Performance Hall in New Orleans on May 13, 2017. Her sixth album, Reflected in a Flowing Stream, was number 1 on the ZMR Top 100 Chart fo January and February of 2017, and it remained on the Chart through the summer.

Kathryn's music is critically acclaimed. The late Michael Diamond referred to her as, "one of the genre's finest artists. Her beautiful, prolific composition and elegant musicianship on the piano have secured her place in the top tier of contemporary composer/musicians."

"Kathryn Kaye is as talented a composer and pianist as any with whom I’ve ever had the pleasure to work. Some of her pieces feel so hauntingly familiar that they seem like part of your DNA."
